Rare Imitation Tower Handcuffs for sale.
Hey all,
I cleaned this imitation Tower up and I found something that leads me to believe finally after all these discussions the origin of these cuffs. Its been argued that they are German or, they are American. This set makes use of the aluminum looking clevis much the same as the Imitation Tower Detective handcuffs that were put out in small quantities in the 20's and 30's and because these use the same switched out clevis, I have to finally believe that they are in fact made by the same company in America that made the Imitation Lightweights.
With both cuffs, there are just enough differences to stay away from patent infringement. ie: on this model, the sideways keyway and the protruding stop buttons on the outside of the bows. The same company made differences in their version of the Imitation Towers, primarily the cut notched lock body and the milling on the bows and again, on some of those cuffs you will find a lockplate made of an aluminium type metal dissimilar from the rest of the cuff.
This set is in excellent working condition and has a key. One clevis is aluminum I think, the other is brass.
