For Sale: Rare Romer Leg Iron – Excellent Condition
Offered here is a very rare Romer leg iron, produced by the Romer Lock Co., and preserved in excellent condition with a rich brown patina and a working key.
Romer restraints are especially notable because they are one of the very few handcuffs and leg irons made by a padlock company, which explains their distinctive padlock-like shape. In period use, when one side failed, it was common practice to cut the connecting chain and continue using the remaining side as a standalone padlock.
Maker: Romer Lock Co.
Condition: Excellent overall
Finish: Smooth brown patina
Functionality: Mechanically correct and works exactly as intended
Historical Note: Romer restraints appear in early 1900s photographs of escape artists, including Houdini, Hardeen, and others, reflecting their use during the height of the escape era
A scarce and historically interesting leg iron with direct ties to early restraint innovation and performance history.
Please see pics for overall condition.

For Sale: ANTIQUE 1904 MATTATUCK HANDCUFFS - HOUDINI SECRET!
Harry Houdini wanted so badly to join the US Army during WW1, but at the time they said he was too old and Houdini came up with an idea, he would teach our boys how to escape handcuffs should they ever have them locked up on their own wrists.
Houdini used at the time an interesting handcuff, the Mattatuck and showed how even with the keyholes sealed shut you could still escape.
We obviously wont go into details here about how that happened or the exploit of the lock involved, but its magical.
This Mattatuck handcuff is very good condition and comes with a working key.
